All day activities – Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th 10.00 am – 5.00pm, no need to book, just turn up.

SELF-LED ART ACTIVITIES – Earthed artist designed activities, just ask for information on them at the Create centre reception when you arrive.

MAKE AND MOW – an exciting opportunity to create a stunning design for a large-scale piece of grass art for our land art competition.

THE BIG DIG  – we will bepeeling back the turf and digging down to reveal the hidden layers of earth and time beneath the surface of the meadows.

EARTHED EXHIBITION – bring your stories, memories, knowledge and findings about Ashton Meadows and add them to the interactive exhibition at the Create centre.

10.00 – 11.00 am – EARTHED CONVERSATIONS

What Lies Beneath. Soil specialists, geologists and archaeologists in a conversation on all things earthy.

11.30 – 1.00 pm – EARTHED WORKS

A practical site-inspired earth sculpture workshop with land artist Mick Petts.

11.30 – 1.00 pm – EARTHED WRITES

A practical site-specific writing workshop with writer David Lane.

1.00- 2.00 pm – LUNCH

Smoothie bike, Create Café open selling delicious lunches and cakes

2.00 – 3.30 pm – EARTHED WORKS and EARTHED WRITES

Another chance to take part in these artist led workshops.

4.00 – 5.00 pm – ARTIST TALK

Language and Landscape – Mick Petts and David Lane explore the connections and approaches of their different practices.

 

SUNDAY 15TH JUNE

The River’s Role. Join river specialists and enthusiasts alike in a big discovery and sharing of all things watery.

11.30 am – 1.00 pm – EARTH GRAFFITI

Practical river-inspired mud graffiti art workshop with Mick Petts.

11.30 am – 1.00pm RIVER WRITES

Practical river-inspired site responsive writing workshop with David Lane.

1.00 – 2.00 pm LUNCH

Join land artist Mick Petts and writer David Lane as well as historians, gardeners, scientists, cyclists, poets and many others to discover the hidden layers of Ashton Meadows and try your hand at land art and writing inspired by this unique green gateway site – with some of the best views in the city!

All of the material unearthed at the weekender will go into an on-going interactive exhibition, be inspiration for our ‘Make and Mow’ grass art competition, and be used to develop an exciting green storytelling and land art event for Bristol in 2015.
